Today’s email is going to be like a marathon: tough but worth it.
Here’s the thing: there is a person or many people who are suffering because of YOU.
The question is: Who are they?
You may say: “Come on Bishal. Why would someone suffer because of me?”
Let me explain.
When I was living a middle-class average life with financial problems, frustration & low confidence, I was NOT the only one suffering.
My life partner had to suffer… Why? Because of ME.
I was constantly worried about my future. Even when I was out with her at a nice place, I was not present. I was worried. Do you think my LACK of presence of mind made her happy? No. I could see the sadness in her eyes, but I couldn’t do anything instantly.
My parents! Because I was living an average life, I didn’t have time for them. I was always away from them, and even though they needed me with them, all I could do was make a call and say: “So, what did you cook today, Maa?” She would ask: “When will you come home?” And I would answer: “Next year.” THEY suffered because their son was not successful.
My brother. He has mental retardation. I didn’t have time for him. I didn’t have presence for him. I couldn’t give him the brother he deserved. Don’t you think he suffered because of me?
So on a surface level, I was suffering. But on a deep level, others were suffering too-----because of ME!
It’s a tough truth to accept.
Now maybe your situation is NOT as bad mine was.
Maybe you’re working in a reputable company. Maybe you have a house and car, and your kids go to good school.
But let me ask you a question.
ARE YOU LIVING AT YOUR HIGHEST POTENTIAL?
If you said: “no,” then I would ask:
Who is suffering because of that?
Maybe because of you’re not playing at the highest level, you’re not giving enough QUALITY time with your wife? I don’t know and I am not judging you. I am simply asking.
Maybe you’re so busy making a living that you stopped taking your kids to the park and they’re growing up without their dad truly being there for them.
Your family doesn’t just want your PRESENTS.
No.
They want your PRESENCE.
Got it?
Maybe because you’re not being your best, you’re not earning what you could by now. So you’re not able to take your family to disneyland. Instead you’re taking them to Nandi Hills. Maybe.
Maybe your parents are silently suffering too?

This was a tough realization for me. Maybe it’s tough for you too. I can imagine that.
